Manthorpe Building Products – Quarterly Update
At Manthorpe Building Products, we’ve had a dynamic and exciting start to the year. As part of our ongoing commitment to recognising hard work, fostering collaboration, and enhancing employee development, we've introduced several new initiatives and celebrated key milestones. Here’s a look at some of the highlights from the past quarter, as well as exciting updates for the months ahead.
Relaunch of the Above & Beyond Award
We’re thrilled to announce the relaunch of the Above & Beyond Award. This scheme is designed to recognise those colleagues who consistently go the extra mile in their work. With a few key updates for 2025, this initiative has become even more rewarding. Our winners this quarter included Ben Fields, Aaron Wan, and Andrei Cordea, each of whom received a £150 prize. We’re proud to celebrate their outstanding contributions to our company!
Feet on the Floor Days
We launched our Feet on the Floor days, encouraging cross-departmental collaboration. This initiative allows colleagues to spend time working in different departments, enhancing their understanding of operations, building stronger relationships, and gaining insight into the challenges faced by various teams. It’s a great way to foster a cohesive working environment and improve overall operational efficiency.
Colleague Recognition Scheme – Launching April 2025
To further demonstrate our commitment to colleague appreciation, we are introducing a new Colleague Recognition Scheme this April. This scheme is designed to acknowledge and reward employees who consistently demonstrate our Company’s Trademark Behaviours. As part of this initiative, colleagues can receive perks such as:
Extended lunch breaks (up to 1 hour)
Leave early pass (up to 2 hours)
Free breakfast or lunch
Free coffee or drink
Long Service Awards – Recognising Dedication
We are excited to introduce Long Service Awards to recognise the dedication of colleagues who have been with us for significant periods. Starting in 2025, colleagues reaching service milestones (10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, or 40 years) will be rewarded with a personalised certificate, a pin badge, and a monetary gift to celebrate their loyalty and commitment.
New SSR Initiative – Monthly Reward
Our new SSR Initiative aims to recognise the best contributions through the See it, Sort it, Report it approach. From April onwards, we will be awarding a £20 Amazon voucher each month to the team member who raises the most valuable SSR, further encouraging a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Support for Mental Health & Wellbeing
At Manthorpe Building Products, we recognise the pressures the construction industry can place on mental health. To support our colleagues, we are proud to welcome Ruth Duignan alongside Vanessa Woodward as our new Mental Health First Aiders. Together, they will be instrumental in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our team.
Additionally, we were thrilled to host Andy’s Man Club on 20th March, raising awareness and supporting men’s mental health within the workplace. Mental wellbeing is paramount, especially in a high-pressure industry like construction, and we’re committed to providing a supportive environment for our teams.
Diversity and Inclusion Updates
Our Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Group continues to grow and thrive. We’re pleased to introduce Paul Manning as the new D&I Director and Jessica Butler as the Marketing Executive. The D&I group, made up of colleagues from across the business, meets regularly to discuss current and future activities, celebrate diversity, and foster an inclusive workplace culture.
Team Development – Setter Development Programme
We’re proud to announce two exciting additions to our Setter Development Programme. Nathan Thacker and George Kerry have both joined the programme and are already making great strides in their professional growth. Nathan has successfully completed his first external training course in Mould Mounting, while George is focusing on Injection Moulding. Both received their Setter Training Records, marking significant milestones in their development. We look forward to supporting their continued success in the years to come.
Celebrating Achievements & Milestones
We have also had the pleasure of celebrating key milestones within the company:
Jenna Whittall marked her 40th birthday at Manthorpe, having dedicated an impressive 27 years to the business.
We celebrated Genuit Day, marking the 4th anniversary of our official rebranding with a fun and friendly baking competition.
Dan Thorpe was the proud winner of our baking competition, taking home a £50 Amazon voucher for his efforts.
We bid farewell to Andrea Brennan after her incredible journey of 27 years with the Genuit Group. Andrea’s leadership in Credit Control Admin and her most recent role as Financial Controller at Manthorpe have been invaluable to our success.
Welcoming New Team Members
We are excited to welcome several new faces to the Manthorpe Building Products family:
Estelle has joined the Customer Care Team, bringing with her a wealth of experience in customer service.
Stephen Lewis has returned as our Area Sales Manager for the North Thames region, bringing his expertise to enhance our sales efforts in the area.
International Women's Day – Celebrating Women’s Contributions
On March 6th, we celebrated International Women’s Day with a breakfast meet-up to reflect on the incredible women who have shaped our lives and contributed to the success of Manthorpe Building Products. It was an inspiring event that allowed us to share stories, celebrate achievements, and continue fostering an inclusive environment within the company.
As we continue to grow and evolve, we’re excited for what the future holds at Manthorpe Building Products. We’re committed to maintaining a strong, supportive workplace culture, recognising the achievements of our team, and driving forward innovation in the construction industry. Stay tuned for more updates in the next quarter, and thank you for being part of the Manthorpe Building Products journey.
